Description

A delicious and healthy frozen treat for your pup made with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 1 cup plain unsweetened yogurt
  • 1/2 cup natural peanut butter (xylitol-free)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce

Instructions

  1. Mash the Bananas: Start by peeling the ripe bananas and placing them in a mixing bowl. Mash them thoroughly with a fork until smooth. The riper they are, the sweeter and creamier your frozen dog treat will be.
  2. Add the Creamy Ingredients: Stir in the plain yogurt, peanut butter, and applesauce. Make sure the peanut butter contains no xylitol, as it’s unsafe for dogs. Mix everything until you have a thick, creamy blend. It should look like a soft, pale smoothie.
  3. Blend for Extra Smoothness (Optional): If you want an ultra-smooth consistency, transfer the mixture to a blender and pulse until silky. This step is especially helpful for senior dogs who prefer softer textures.
  4. Portion and Freeze: Spoon the mixture into silicone molds, ice cube trays, or small paper cups. I love using bone-shaped molds for a playful touch. Place them in the freezer for at least 3–4 hours, or until completely firm.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Pop one out and offer it to your pup. Watch as they cautiously lick at first, then eagerly savor every bite of their homemade Dog Ice Cream.
