Description
Delicious creamy mashed potatoes that are fluffy and rich.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds Russet Potatoes (Choose starchy varieties for fluffiness.)
- 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter (For rich flavor.)
- 1/2 cup Heavy Cream (Whole milk can be substituted.)
- 1 large Egg Yolk (Optional for vegan version.)
- to taste Salt (Enhances flavors.)
- to taste Ground Pepper (Adjust according to preference.)
- 1/4 cup Grated Cheese (Gruyère or Parmesan.)
- to taste Fresh Herbs (Chives or thyme.)
Instructions
- Prepare the Potatoes: Peel and cut your starchy Russet potatoes into equal-sized chunks. Boil them in salted water until tender (about 15-20 minutes).
- Mash and Mix: Drain the potatoes thoroughly, then mash them until creamy. Blend in the butter, heavy cream, salt, and pepper until smooth. If using, fold in the egg yolk.
- Pipe the Potatoes: Transfer the creamy potato mixture into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe decorative swirls onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the piped potatoes for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve: Garnish as desired and serve warm.
Notes
- For fluffier potatoes, choose starchy varieties like Russet.
- The egg yolk is optional for a vegan version; the recipe will still be delicious without it.
