Slow Cooker Italian Chicken

Description

This slow cooker Italian chicken is tender, flavorful, and perfect for serving over pasta or rice.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts (about 4 large)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 quart marinara sauce
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • 2 tablespoons basil (sliced thinly)

Instructions

  1. In a slow cooker, add the chicken breasts and drizzle with the olive oil.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Italian seasoning. Mix well, then sprinkle the seasoning evenly over the chicken breasts.
  3. Top with the marinara sauce.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours, or on high for about 3 hours, checking the internal temperature of the chicken to be sure it has reached 165 degrees F. in the thickest spots.
  5. Once the chicken has cooked, add the shredded mozzarella cheese to the slow cooker and cover for about 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
  6. Garnish with thinly sliced basil and serve over pasta, rice, zoodles, or cauliflower rice.
  7. Enjoy!
