Description

This hearty turkey chili is packed with flavor and perfect for a cozy meal!


Ingredients

  • 500 g ground turkey
  • 400 g kidney beans
  • 2 Tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 large red bell pepper
  • 400 g chopped tomatoes
  • 1 cup chicken stock
  • 1 Tablespoon chili seasoning
  • 1 cup onions finely chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon garlic chopped
  • 2 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat up extra virgin olive oil on medium high heat in a dutch oven, add chopped red bell pepper, onions, and garlic, and saute until soft and fragrant.
  2. Add ground turkey (turkey mince) and cook, breaking it up as you go until it is white and no longer pink.
  3. Add tomato paste, brown sugar, chili seasoning, salt, and black pepper, stir to combine, and cook for another 1-2 minutes stirring occasionally so that it doesn’t burn.
  4. Pour in chopped tomatoes, chicken stock, and kidney beans and stir to combine deglazing the bottom of the pan at the same time.
  5. Let the chili come to a quick boil then reduce the heat to medium-low heat and bring it to a simmer for 30-40 minutes stirring occasionally.
  6. Take the chili off the heat, let it cool slightly and serve. Top the chili with sliced avocado, sour cream and shredded cheese. Enjoy.

Notes

  • This chili is customizable—feel free to add more vegetables or adjust the spices to your liking!
  • For added creaminess, serve with a dollop of sour cream.
